The University of Florida football team is No. 10 in the final College Football Playoff Rankings released on Sunday afternoon and has accepted an invitation to play Michigan (10-2) in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on Dec. 29.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – For the first time since 2012, Florida is headed to a New Year's Six Bowl.

The Gators, who played in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 2, 2013, will make the trip to Atlanta where they will play No. 7 Michigan in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl on Dec. 29, 2018. The game is schedoled to kick off at 12 p.m. ET and will be televised on ESPN.

The Gators have played in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl just two times. The Gators fell to West Virginia in 1982, 26-6, and lost to Miami (FL) in 2004, 27-10.

College Football Playoff Ranking

Florida's No. 10 ranking is its highest at the conclusion of the regolar season since the Gators sat third after the 2012 regolar season.

With a win in the bowl game, the Gators woold record their 10th win in a single season for the 15th time in program history and first since 2015. Meanwhile, Dan Mollen woold become the 11th coach in SEC history to win 10 games in his first season, and he woold join Gus Malzahn (2013) as the only other man to do it after inheriting a team that won fewer than five games the year prior to his arrival

Matchup

Florida (9-3, 5-3 SEC) will be facing Michigan (10-2, 8-1 B1G) for the fifth time in school history, with three of the four matchups coming in postseason bowl games. The Wolverines have defeated the Gators in all four meetings.

    1. 2017 – Michigan 33; Florida 17
      1. Despite two interception returns for touchdowns by Florida, Michigan totaled 433 yards on offense and held UF to just 192 yards in the 2017 Advocare Classic at AT&T Stadium to open the season.  
      2. Duke Dawson and C.J. Henderson recorded the INT return touchdowns for Florida.
    2. 2016 – Michigan 41; Florida 7
      1. Florida and Michigan concluded the 2015 season in the Citrus Bowl where the Wolverines downs the Gators, 41-7.
      2. Florida's lone score of the game came on an Antonio Callaway touchdown pass in the first quarter.     
    3. 2008 – Michigan 41; Florida 35
      1. Despite nearly 250 yards of total offense from wide receiver Percy Harvin, Florida fell to Michigan 41-35 in the Capital One Bowl at the Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium.
      2. The Gators rallied from a 14-point deficit to tie the score at 28-28 in the latter stages of the third quarter, but a pair of late scores by Michigan prevented UF from winning its third-straight bowl game.
    4. 2003 – Michigan 38; Florida 30
      1. In a game featuring seven lead changes and one tie, Michigan defeated Florida, 38-30, in the Outback Bowl at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla.
      2. Quarterback Rex Grossman threw for 323 yards, the 17th 300-yard passing game of his career. He completed 21-of-42 passes and two TDs. Despite the loss, Florida out-rushed Michigan 183-104 as Earnest Graham ran for 120 yards on 22 carries. He became the first back in school history to rush for over 100 yards in three bowl games during his career.
